Toby Cann, Student Wellbeing Leader

I am a dad, a husband, a teacher, a musician, a football fan, a cyclist, I love to make music, travel, walk my dog and read. I am inspired by my Wife and Kids, Glastonbury Festival of Performing Arts, Iva Bittova, Yegveny Yevtushenko, Django Rienhardt, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Wes Anderson, Massive Attack, Jack Kornfield & Lemon Meringue Pie.

Since 2002, I have worked as a Wellbeing Team member in International Schools in Switzerland, France, the UK and the Czech Republic. I established an associate membership team in 2015 supporting Wellbeing interventions in Education and have since supported Wellbeing programmes in schools from Mexico to Bhutan.

I regularly present at conferences on Wellbeing issues including more recently for Ecolint in Switzerland and for the Managebac user conference in Berlin. I was delighted to be invited to join the 2020 health initiative group at the House of Commons, I am a contributing member of European Network for Social Emotional Competencies (ENSEC) and was a consortium member for the IBO’s Social and Emotional Literacy Resource Group.

I have contributed to a range of publications on Wellbeing issues including the NAPCE (National Association of Pastoral Care Educators), the International Schools Guide 2016 and the Human Givens Institute Periodical.

I am particularly interested in Student Agency, Reflective Practice and Student Voice and excited to become a member of the Halcyon community in August.
