Gareth Jones, Biology & Environmental Systems and Societies Teacher and Student Wellbeing Support

I have experience working overseas for NGOs and schools, teaching both national and international curriculums.

I left the UK in 2005 and was involved in teaching and teacher training at community schools in Tanzania and Rwanda; I created, developed and managed a youth centre and community library in conjunction with the local community and government in rural Zambia; and I taught the IB curriculum at the American International School of Lusaka and an IB World School in London.

I have eight years’ IB teaching experience, teaching IBMYP Mathematics, Science and PHE, as well as IB Diploma Mathematical Studies and Biology. I am employed by the IB as a senior examiner of the new IBMYP Interdisciplinary eAssessments and I write articles for IB publications and authored IBMYP Science textbooks.

I was brought up and educated in the UK. I acquired a bachelor degree in Medical Sciences and Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Leeds. After that I completed an MA in International Education from the University of Bath, which looked at the reasons schools choose the IBMYP as their curriculum.

Education

Master of Arts in International Education from University of Bath (UK)
Postgraduate Certificate in Education in Science from The University of Leeds (UK)
Bachelor of Science in Medical Sciences from The University of Leeds (UK).
