Jonathan Simpson, Individuals and Societies & Geography Teacher

Jonathan believes that a concept-based education can help students understand the complexity of the world.

Originally from the UK, Jonathan has taught IBMYP Humanities and IBDP Geography at Mercedes-Benz International School in India since 2008, and has been Head of Humanities since 2010. He immersed himself in Indian culture, travelled much of Asia, and believes that in today’s changing world every “Westerner” should live for some time in the “‘East”.

Jonathan studied BA Geography at Southampton University, completed a PGCE at Portsmouth University, and taught in the south of England before moving to India. An IB enthusiast, he is currently completing an MA in Education and IB advanced certificate in teaching and learning research at UCL Institute of Education.
