Grade 6 at The British Museum

Grade 6 went exploring in the British Museum this week, discovering what different types of cultural masks were used for, where they came from and what they were made out of. The students collected this information after having looked at Inuit, Sri Lankan and African Masks and have used this knowledge to give them an understanding of the purpose of traditional masks and how they can change a performer’s identity. Grade 7 plan to create their own masks based on a story in English and make connections to the wonderful patterns, textures and shapes they saw in the Museum.
