Gareth Jones, Biology Teacher and Student Wellbeing Leader

Gareth has experience working overseas for NGOs and schools, teaching both national and international curriculums.  

He left the UK in 2005 and was involved in teaching and teacher training at community schools in Tanzania and Rwanda; created, developed and managed a youth centre and community library in conjunction with the local community and government in rural Zambia; and taught the IB curriculum at the American International School of Lusaka and an IB World School in London.

Gareth has eight years' IB teaching experience, teaching IBMYP Mathematics, Science and PHE, as well as IB Diploma Mathematical Studies and Biology. He is employed by the IB as a senior examiner of the new IBMYP Interdisciplinary eAssessments. He regularly writes articles for IB publications and has authored IBMYP Science textbooks.

Brought up and educated in the UK, Gareth acquired a bachelor degree in Medical Sciences and Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Leeds. Before completing an MA in International Education from the University of Bath, receiving a distinction for his dissertation, which looked at the reasons schools choose the IBMYP as their curriculum.
